I didn't want to hijack an earlier thread but why does someone refer to their spouse as my old lady or my old man? Is this used directly to their face? Just wondering.
Thank You Ma'am. For all the people who say it is disrespectful to call my girl "old lady". Did you really think about what you just typed. The OP's question was why do Other people call their significant others that. You cannot say what is disrespectful to my OLD LADY or not. She is quite intelligent and not nearly afraid to speak her mind if she feels that she not being treated well. Please don't try to speak for her. Since I don't know any of you I would only address you as "sir" and certainly adress your wives/signifigant others as Ma'am. Don't try to push your viewpoint on me. I certainly don't push mine on you. I'm sure every one of you woke up this morning, looked in the mirror and said " I am 100% perfect, so much so that I need to start dictating other peoples actions"I don't think it is trashy or disrespectful. It's just a term some people choose to use and when it is used I don't think anyone actually uses it in a disrespectful manner. Some people are more sensitive than others I guess? I don't really sweat the small stuff. It wouldn't bother me not one bit......
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Cause it sounds better than "the old battle axe"
How do you reference 24Buds?I generally refer to him by his name. If the other person wouldn't recognize him by his name, I refer to him as husband, boyfriend, pool boy, minion, captive, or whatever is appropriate.
Usually as "the defendant"How do you reference 24Buds?
Good boy.I usually refer to her as "the boss".... or the CFO....
It is disrespectful and low class. I bet the guys who say that about their wife never say it to her face.I don't use that term. Sounds disrespectful to me. But that's just my opinion.
Exactly, use it all the time, as she uses Ol' Man, either one of us could care less, dang sure never seen it as being disrespectful, but to each his own. It's 'Ol lady, not old lady and it means no disrespect..
No I do , but it is good to know you are the official word on who is trashy or low class. Seriously, for anyone to say that you are trashy for pet names is ridiculous. Get over yourself you are NO better than anyone else, though I'm sure you give yourself a nice little elitist pep talk every morning. It is disrespectful and low class. As the OP, Texas Irie, never once did I say you were trashy or lowlife. I was just struck by the first 3 words of your post 'My old lady' when asking for prayers for the 2 missing fishermen. Being I am old enough to be your mother (and yes, I am female), I was just taken aback. I will ask that this thread be closed. Some find the term no problem and some are offended by it. At least we are able to post our opinions (for now). Peace! AnnetteNo I do , but it is good to know you are the official word on who is trashy or low class. Oh I have to be thankful for this, my girl has been talking about joining for a while and this was the catalyst that finally caused her to join.
My girl is young and very beautiful. Not vane at all. Therefore she has no problem with this. She should be along sometime to clarify.
Also you guys need to figure out what insecurity drives you to insult other peoples choices for life. If I don't agree with it or understand it they are trash, while I am a shining example of all that is pure and true in the world. SHUT UP AND GET OVER YOURSELF.
Cap'n, if this is violating rules forgive me. maybe we need to move this to the jungle. I'm fairly positive this post is about my missing fisherman post. OP please correct me if I'm wrong. Once again, anyone who thinks that they can call someone else trashy or lowlife, take a hard look at yourself and make sure you are absolutely perfect first. One man talking here, but does anyone else think its a little "holier than though" to call someone trashy for this. Especially when they have no idea of the context.
