When I was a kid, the church we attended would always recognize birthdays and anniversaries. For the birthdays, we sang "Happy Birthday", for the anniversaries, we sang "When The Battle's Over".

I guess I picked it up at A&M. As fish, we did not have the privilege of having a roommate, we had an old lady. So when I got married, I call my wife old lady because she isn't my roommate.

It's 'Ol lady, not old lady and it means no disrespect..

 

Exactly, use it all the time, as she uses Ol' Man, either one of us could care less, dang sure never seen it as being disrespectful, but to each his own.

I generally prefer to call her my vieja. She's 39 days older than I am and I don't let her forget. Never said in a mean or disrespectful way. It's a term of endearment.
