I didn't mind Phelps getting high on his own time. Fact of the matter though, Olympians are on OUR time.

But seriously, what the heck really happened? On one hand, Rio wants to keep their "everything is good here, come spend your money" reputation, and on the same hand why would anyone make this up? It's more believable that actual Brazilian police officers robbed them, since they haven't been paid in months according to them, than that US swimmers made this story up.

They now have video footage of the swimmers kicking a door down at a convenience store and causing all kinds of trouble. Security guard confronted then and the argued with him. Looks like they were the "bad guys" and not some robber. They weren't even in a cab. They have now been charged with filing a false police report. Keep in mind this all happened at 6am and it wasn't on their way to breakfast.

ok, so I know every one of you gets p'd off when you see places like Ferguson burning to the ground and people making wild assumptions...lets wait for the rest of the facts to come out.

 

They obviously broke in to the bathroom and then lied about it, but the Brazilian Authorities aren't telling the whole story either. I have seen the tapes probably 10 times on the news and I wonder, 1) Why were the swimmers sitting on the ground unless forced to at gunpoint? 2) How did the guards know how much the damages would be? 3) The damages were what they had on them, coincidence? 4) why isn't the taking of all your money at gunpoint robbery? Maybe they were robbed, just not how they say. From all of the gas station bathrooms I have been in, there not a lot of vandalism you can do.

Fwiw,TMZ reported that the video was edited and they were indeed held at gunpoint until they paid up.

My kids have told me for a long time that he's dumber than a box of rocks.

 

I smell a rat, the Brazis have a lot of tourism at stake, and they were surrounded by police controversy coming in, so I'm not convinced at all. But one thing's for sure, while Obummer is letting people out of jail over here, bet he won't interrupt his golf game to get involved in this.

Me too. Lochte's original story isn't too far off from what happens in the video keeping in mind those kids were hammered and aren't going to remember it extremely well. They were told to get out of a cab and handed over money at gun point. The fake officer ends up being a security guard, but Rio says he did indeed point his gun at one them.

It isn't like this doesn't happen down there on a daily basis.

 

They did have a gun pointed at them and money taken but it is not as clear cut as their original story.

 

Clearly they did not get the message that foreign governments don't operate the same as ours, but I still smell a rat. Rio has way more skin in the game to discredit the swimmers than they did to manufacture a story.

 

The guy is a straight up attention whore. A real life narcissist. That's why his hair is bleached. That's why his version of the story portrays him as the brave one. Massive DB imho
