I have fished a lot with perch and lures that look like them. I think the thing the bass key in on is the shape and how it swims, Color not so much. The motion seems to matter more. I have been looking for a lure that "swims" like a bluegill, but so far have not seen any good ones.

I've got a handful of the Matt bluegills and crappies. They're deadly in the right situations. A lot of it is in the retrieve, too. These aren't meant to be burned. I just reel them nice and slow. They definitely seem to catch larger fish, but won't get you many numbers.

They're incredible bed baits. The bait rests nose down like a bluegill eating eggs off a bed. I've gotten some of the hardest, most explosive bed strikes I've ever seen with the bluegill.

If you invest in these baits do yourself a favor and get yourself some Mend-It bait glue to go with them. I've had a few of these last for years, but I've had to doctor them up with the Mend-It to keep everything clean.

Lol $23 is not very much for swim baits in the bass world.
I agree with throwing them on a bed. Itll either scare the hell out of the fish and it won't come back til you leave or they will swim off the bed, turn around and hit it as hard as they can.
Just give them a 2 count before setting the hook.
