Does anyone have a mold or point me in the direction to buy a stainless steel spider weight mold? I like the weight that they sell at FTU, but they're out of the 4oz. most of the time.

You need to search this site and the internet. A couple of years ago I found all the info. I needed to make my own weights. The molds are made from bondo. You use an existing weight to make an impression. The real trick is to learn how to twist the wire. It is a single piece that forms both the arms and the "hay-baler" loop that you attach to. Additionally there are numerous sources for obtaining your lead: old weights, tire weights, plumbing supplies, etc. You specifically mentioned using stainless, you may want to consider copper wire. Good luck.
Yeah, I have made my own before out of wood, bondo, and plaster. They just don't hold up. I had a jig mold made a while back and thats the way to go. It was very affordable, but they are no longer in business. I have used the copper wire weight, but it seems to me that the stainless holds better.
X 2 on bondo mold. I took a gallon milk jug, cut in half and filled the bottom with bondo. Bought a drill bit about 1" and drilled various depth holes. Made 30 sinkers without any problems. Very easy and weights look store bought. Roger
I just use conduit pipe cut to length, drill 4 holes close to the bottom for your wires. Set them up in some sand and pour full. I have some we made over 20 yrs ago and they still work fine.
to post pic's open an account on tiny pic upload picture to tiny pic and then copy and past link supplied for forum's and message boards. Not really difficult to do.
