Could this happen here? Even if you care nothing about shooting or hunting, consider this.

In Mexico past six years there has been more than 50,000 murdered.

The majority of Mexican citizens cannot purchase firearms. Technically they're allowed to own them, because Mexico's constitution was worded similar to our Second Amendment. However, there are only a handful of gun shops in the entire country, and the sheer volume of paperwork, checks and personal recommendations required is huge. Even if you could obtain permission to buy a gun, the highest caliber pistol is low with the highest caliber reserved for law enforcement and the military.

A population powerless to do anything.

"Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any bands of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States" (Noah Webster in `An Examination into the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution', 1787, a pamphlet aimed at swaying Pennsylvania toward ratification, in Paul Ford, ed., Pamphlets on the Constitution of the United States, at 56(New York, 1888))

The politician's don't have to change the second amendment just make them too expensive and difficult to obtain or make a felon out of anyone that discharges one. We are slowly headed in the same direction with more red tape and with bullets getting more expensive. How long will it be before the average citizen won't even own a gun.

I haven't hunted or shot any of my guns in years. None of my nephews or grandsons hunt or shoot. Another generation we might be like Mexico with very few guns held by the average home owner and not able to defend ourselves.

As far as the illegal I certainly don't like the crime and our government aiding them but it's the Governments that have paved the way for them. The illegals would not be here if their government provided them with jobs with a decent wage and our government wasn't providing schools, medical and allowing US Citizens to employ them. Blame the governments not the people.

In the US , the Second Amendment is your right to carry, except the government doesn't see it that way. So, we must follow their permitting procedure .
As for disarming the American citizen, there are over 350,000,000 firearms privately owned in this country. Many have changed hands without documentation at least once, and they are invisible.
This staggering number of firearms has created the largest armed populace, and the largest standing army in the world. Disarmament ? Ain't gonna happen.
Behind every blade of grass!

I think there's more cartels already working inside our borders than most people realize.
Nationally, they are all the way up the east coast.

Locally, just think about all the posts here over the last year with the I-10 stings, and grow operations as close as Liberty. I think we already have the first war being fought on our soil in a long time.

The best thing anyone can do is to first join the NRA. If every legal gun owner in the USA would just take this one small step the number would be overwhelming to the politicians. That is a simple fact. The NRA is the ONLY thing that has stopped the Clinton/Obama/etc crowd from enacting legislation to register and eventually confiscate your guns. If you don't believe it can happen then just look at the history of England and Australia! They thought that they were free too.
