The front deck on my boat does not have a seat and I would like to install one but have never cut or drilled fiberglass before and dont know what to use. I looked at the bases at academy was wondering what is best for making the hole. Any help is appreciated.

Jig saw works fine if you have enough room to manuver it also any drill bit will drill through it includeing hole saws. I prefer a roto zip though especialy when working on the console. Just remember measure twice and cut once and remember it is better to cut to small the first time.

Use all stainless hardware also. Ditto on the 5200.

Make sure you have the clearance from hatch doors, hinges, deck supports, elec wires, etc before you make any cuts.

Thanks LRM. I didnt know if a regular hole saw would work or not. Was concerned about the possibility of it cracking outwards.
Did that on my boat last year using a hole saw. I just took it slow and easy letting the weight of the drill do the work. No problems at all and I love having something to lean on in the front of the boat.
