seastar steering fluid for bottlejack hydraulic oil

Can I use seastar steering fluild for bottlejack hydraulic oil, since seastar steering fluid is for hydraulic steering system?

You can but why? The high dollar steering fluid is non flamable ( aviation spec I think ). The other stuff isnt. You can use seastar in your jack but not vise versa. Clear as mud? Cheaper just to go to autoparts store and save good stuff for boat.

Put it in a container and store it on your boat for emergency use. Develop a leak on the water and you will wish you had the whole quart. I have been on two boats where the helm seal started leaking over the years Only a little but enough to get real scary trying to steer a channel to the boat ramp. The more you turn the more fluid leaks. We lost steering completely at the ramp and had a real problem lining up with the trailer. 4 ounces of oil would have helped. How do I know. I tested back at my buddy's house. Your call.
