Easy killer. Its OK breathe a lil.
I realize what you are saying , and I do know about free market, TRUST me.
Just an observation.

Seriously? What would you have our new POTUS do? Legislate them back into profitability?

The free market does not work that way. A century ago Sears destroyed many mom and pop hardware stores with the invent of the "Sears Catalog".

Now it is their turn as companies like Amazon make their model obsolete.

Retail is not "becoming a thing of the past". Quite the contrary it is evolving. And just like in nature you find a way to adapt or go extinct.

Sears is going extinct. Amazon is the new king of the jungle...

Yep, back in the day you could order a complete build your own house kit.

They already sold off all the craftsman brand, and licensed the Kenmore brand to someone that can sell it anywhere... they've been on the verge of complete implosion for years, now they're selling off their core assets for operating capital. They're done. Alll there is left is to stand there poking them with a stick to see if they move.

malls are becoming more of a recreational area .. most of the sales are impulse and trending merchandise (high profit). because of the rise in mall rental cost, the huge square footage retailers with competing heavy weights like amazon, hd, lowes cant survive. the food courts, entertainment & small retailer are going to be key, not giants.
