Anyone used these in heavy shell for a season or two? How's they hold up? The gummy soles look soft to me.

It's not puncture proof, and not ideal for wading heavy shell.
I'm really tired of buying $50. Reef boots so $200. boots will be a good value if they last two or three years.

X2 mine didn't last very long either. I just got the orvis Andros flats hiker boots and I really like them. They are comfortable and are very light which is what I look for when I buy wading boots. The only reason I haven't bought the ocean teks is because they weigh so much!

Here's a tip on good wading boots. Wait until Academy puts their hunting boots on sale. You can buy them for around 40.00, rip the insulated liner out of them and they are excellent and tough wading boots. This is my 3rd winter wading season using mine.

I've had a pair for almost a year Kenny and they have held up extremely well. They have a tough vibram sole that should hold up to most anything. I know you are a Simms guy and these boots are like most of their other gear.......you get what you pay for. They are also true to size if you are wondering.

I wear a 10-10.5 street shoe and I think my ocean tek's are 11's with waders or neoprene socks.

I would actually try a pair on. I will say that they are more comfortable than any other wading boot I have used.

Ive got the last year model and they look like Creddy Kruger got a hold of them, the toes cracked open in several places, im going to send pics to simms and see what the have to say about them.

That's not a very good recommendation for sure. So the toe cap material cracked? What do you think caused that to happen? Did you send them in to Simms for repair or more likely replacement?

my ocean teks are super comfortable and very light weight even though they appear bulky. the soles are great also - very responsive. I wear my duck hunting all the time and have no problem walking around for a day in them. they are well worth the $$.

Kenny, I am a size 12 in shoes/boots. I bought size 12 on the Ocean Tec's and they are perfect with neoprene socks in the summer or stocking foot waders in the winter. Hope this helps..........

I ran into some unexpected cash yesterday so I got the boots and waded today. I drove the guy nuts at FTU trying on one size then the other, over, and over, and over! The size 12's are perfect. They'll take a little getting use to. They're stiff and clunky compared to the reef boots I've been wearing. Thanks for all the help.
