Prop Recommendation for ShearWater 23TE

As the title states, I need some input. I have a 2013 ShearWater 23TE with a 250 SHO. The boat came with a 23P Mirage, the top end was 63mph (GPS) at 5600rpm, hole shot was average with 2 men, tackle and 40 gallons of fuel. Problem was when anymore additional weight was added the hole shot was mediocre even with the trim tabs down. I took the recommendation of a prop guy up here (DFW area) who specializes in bass boats and put a 21P Tempest that he blue printed and "tweaked". Top end with this prop is 58mph (GPS) 5900rpm with an excellent hole shot. I've read you guys propping with Mirages and Bravos on similar style boats. Would a 21P of 22P Mirage gain some top end without sacrificing too much hole shot?

I have a 22' Shearwater with a 250 SHO that I run a 22 Tempest plus with the vent holes plugged up. It's the best prop I have found for all around. Good hole shot and top speed of 62 with 2 people full tank of fuel. These boats aren't going to run much faster than that as the hull design isn't built for speed. It's a great boat though. By the way, Tempest is the prop that Shearwater recommends as well. I spoke to one of the engineers at the factory and was told that they have tested many props and the best for that hull is a Tempest.

What vent plugs if any are in the prop? I just got a shearwater x22 sho 250 and it's a lot smaller boat with the 23 tempest it runs 65 plus so 63 with that prop is pretty good if you asked me. Your rpms are a little low so maybe a pitch or 2 smaller if you want to get them up 150 to 200 rpms higher per pitch drop. But on my boat the prop came vented with small pvs vents and I got the plugged vents( so it has no vents). The sho doesn't need them, it gave the prop better bite at low speed hard turns and holeshot was much better for me. It was a 6$ fix for what everyone I talked to at the dealer told me was just how the boat ran or try different props. So depending on how your prop is ported I would play with pvs plugs of different sizes before trying different props to help with your holeshot.

And dropping pitch might help with top end do to higher wot rpms and will help with holeshot since it will be easier for the motor to spin up. But doesn't mean it will every time.

Vents are plugged on the 21P Tempest. Thinking of ordering a 22P Tempest which should put me at 60mph without sacrificing too much hole shot.

How where the vents on the mirage if that prop ran well and that much faster I would try a 22 in it. That's personally what I would do. Do you still have the 23 mirage
The Mirage went back to ShearWater in exchange for the 21P Tempest as recommended by ShearWater. After the exchange I didn't like the top end performance of the 21P Tempest so I had it reworked by a local prop guy. No improvement was recognized after the rework. I just ordered the 22P Tempest. Hope it improves the performance. Will use the 21P as a back up.

21 Rev 4. Had that boat in 2011 with a 250 SHO. Great hole shot and handling with decent top end at 60-61. Some guys cut 5/8 inch off the barrel length of the Rev4 that adds some bow lift if needed. I preferred that prop over the 3 blades. Do a test and buy with Josh Finch at Full Throttle Boatworks, a sponsor here.
