I've always heard of good duck hunting in and around mule slough. Has anybody ever been in there. If so can you give me a few tips on how to weave my way through?

Few years back my stepfather stuck his boat back there for 3 days. Lol. It would run shallow but not near as shallow as their curlew. Still a iffy spot for many people to run through. I myself have never been in there. Very curious about it though from story's told by many of the old timers that grew up in POC pulling ton's of trapped reds out of their. Sounds like a good place for a guided tour.

Mule slough is a great place to fish and hunt. If you're running a bay boat, you need to know the tides and have a good knowledge of the area. With an airboat, it's game on. I run both......seems like during the winter months the airboat is the way to go for duck hunting. The tides ran pretty low this year during the season.

We have fished it since the mid '60's

At times, with a high tide you could run to the end of 2ond Oil field cut, and make a sharp right. In the 70's you could take the little winding creek that comes in from the East and get in.

Through the decades, I think it has been filling in, and is at least a foot shallower than it was in the 70's. I have a friend with an airboat, and have only been in there in an airboat in the past 15 years.

Years ago, when in a boat, we would run to end of 2 ond oil field cut, anchor, and wade in, in ankle deep water, about 100 yds. to the SSW.

Good Luck
