This week's weather and the weather forecasting has been challenging and then Friday we had pre-fishing high school bass tourney boats all over the lake + all the wake boats.....
Wednesday that rain storm wasn't predicted to be here until after noon but at 9am it was pouring and had lots of lightning and on top of that my clients were a 1½ late. As soon as we got to our 1st spot and put 1 crappie in the boat we were speeding getting back to the ramp and we all were soaked.....LOL We rescheduled that trip with the radar showing it would be a few hours of rain. I set at the ramp waiting on the rain to lighten up and after an hour I was looking up at the sky getting lighter. The rain was already passing, looked back at the radar and it was still showing a lot of rain to come but my guess was it was passing. I dumped my boat back in the lake and went and got me a fresh never frozen bluegill dinner and decided to check on a few areas to recon what the crappie were up too. The bite was so good I boxed a fish or two from each spot I checked and almost ended up with a limit of crappie not even trying.
My next two guide trips were solo client trips and I really like those as the client gets a good feel of what has to happen to entice crappie to eat a jig. Both of those trips resulted in 25 fish limits..
We fished 14 to 18fow, water temps are in the mid 80's and we used a Limits Tackle 1Âľ" stinger in Spring Green. The fish were tight to the structure and if we could avoid all the bluegill holding on the piles we would catch a crappie....
Fun week and I totally enjoyed the challenging conditions. The summer bit isn't in full swing just yet but it's definitely coming.
