Looking for feedback on key west brand boats. I’m looking at a 2017 239 FS with very low hours. Would be mainly staying in and around the bay and inter coastal with occasional offshore trip (20-30miles) on select days. Boat has a Yamaha 250 HP SHO motor. Any feedback on key west quality, the way the boat handles 2-3 foot seas, does it ride dry, is the SHO engine decent ?

I had a Key West 230BR for about 4 years. No complaints with that boat at all, we ran all over the bay system and 30 + miles out on many occasions. KW is a solid , well built mid priced boat. A lot of boat for the money. I had a 250 Offshore motor on mine, probably should have gone with the SHO, topped out 55-7 mph depending on fishing load.
The boat did fine in 2’ seas, but mine was a bay boat , the 239 will do even better. Pretty dry ride in most conditions. Running fast through quartering seas and any bay boat can get wet. I would strongly suggest SirriusXM weather if going offshore.
The only weak point, the KW dealer network, the local guy is completely klewless!

I looked hard at Key West before I bought my previous Sea Hunt. I was happy with my Sea Hunt but after crawling all over the Key West, I think the Key West is a notch higher on build quality. Foam filled hull is nice. No comments on the ride of the FS, but over on the Hull Truth there is lots of good info. I think their is a Key West Facebook page as well, if you do the Facepage thing

I have a 244 FS and really like it. It's got twin yamaha 150's that push it just fine, very few days offshore that you can run wide open. It's a dry running boat with the big flare on the front. Boat is foamed inside real well (hopefully will never have to find out the floating ability!) but it does make for a solid ride. About the only real draw backs I've found is a lack of dry storage. There are two large boxes in front but we end up storing a good amount of stuff in the center console. Some have complained about the lack of walk room in the front but it really hasn't hampered us. With the wide front, the boys can stand up there and fish comfortably (they have better balance than the old man).
Running in bays, you'll have a great ride, of course there will be some saying you have to much draft to run in skinny water but your not getting a pure bay boat. We've been in 1.5' FOW idling around with no problem. Back seat rides great and if it like ours, folds down to give you more fishing room. Not sure about the bait wells on the 239, ours has two on the back, one on each side. The circulation is great. We catch bait in the mornings and they will keep them alive all day with the pumps running none-stop.
Good number of rod holders on each side plus the rocket launchers on back and on the t-top lets us carry more than we need.
Ours has a 140 gallon gas tank, and we average 2 - 2.5 mpg.
let me know if you got any other questions.
