Anyone played the Robert Trent Jones trail in Alabama? Taking my dad there in the spring with a couple friends of mine. Dad will turn 80 next year and I don't want to say I wish we would have went. He plays 3 - 4 days a week and can still shoot his age. I play 2-4 times a month and shoot low to mid 80's.

Not sure if he can make 36 holes a day but several courses have a regular par 72 course and short 18 hole par 3 course. We may be able to play a par 72 and a par 54 course in one day. Looking to play three days straight.

Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

depends on where you go...

the trail covers the entire state

I've golfed at the ones near birmingham. nice courses. good prices. my buddy has hit almost all of them and says the one down near Auburn was his favorite. Grand National I think it's called.

Oxmoor Valley has 36 holes and fun layout. Ross Bridge is a little more pricey but great course as well.

The Judge and Senator at Capitol Hill (Prattville) were both awesome. We didn't get to play the Legislator, but it's probably awesome as well. All three nines at Cambrian Ridge were nice. The Sherling Nine was my personal favorite. They have a nine hole short course. Both courses at Grand National were great. I really don't think You'll find a bad course on the trail. The Crossings at Magnolia Grove host an LPGA tour event. It was my least favorite on the trail, but if it was around here, I'd play it all the time. We didn't play any of the short courses. For a three day trip I would do Oxmoor Valley, Capitol Hill, and Cambian Ridge.

Wife and I have played most of the RTJ. You will love it. Courses are great and reasonably priced. Service is excellent at all courses. Get on their email list. Clubhouses at most of the courses are very similar so they all feel familiar when you arrive. Oxmoor and Shoals are very hilly. Capitol Hill had 3 great courses. Our favorite is Grand National in Opelika. Out of town with fabulous Marriott on site. Not too hilly. Swing away!!
