I don’t go out and target them but we caught four this weekend on a hump where it came up from 20’ to 11’. We was fishing for White Bass and using our own Ducktracker Slabs.
I catch them all the time crappie fishing. Seems the live shad I use in the spring works best (maybe worse).
Depends how you see it.
The catfish also like the live shad the best in the spring.
BUT.....Crappie love shad during the shad spawn.
I put about 15 or so in backlive well and same in front livewell. All dead by 9am or so.
Crawfish, rock or hard bottom, long leader small strong hook, is what works in the river.
Minnows shad or small cut bait fished around white bass schools with a light catfish rig works too.
Will often catch them on crank baits or even spinner baits.
