Furniture stores reviews? Ashley, R2G, Gallery?

I'm planning to buy some new furniture. 1 reclining loveseat with no console, and 2 full sized reclining sofas. Lazy Boy is darn nice, but i'm not spending $8k on furniture. Rooms to Go didn't impress me any with their selection, or rather, lack of selection (on line as well as in the store), and their sales folks were really annoying. My Wife and I found some pieces at Ashley Furniture in Webster, and we're just about ready to pull the trigger on it, but an internet search revealed a TON of HORRID reviews on Ashley, so now i'm getting cold feet about buying furniture from them. Gallery Furniture has generally good reviews, but the overarching issue seems to be that they are over priced. Basically, get the make/model on a piece from Gallery, then price shop it on the web and beat the price dramatically.

So now i'm kinda at a loss.

Have any of you guys had any relatively recent dealing with Ashley Furniture, Bel Furniture, Rooms to Go, Gallery, or others?

Planning to buy leather reclining sofas x 2, and leather reclining love seat x 1.

Not looking to bash anybody's store, but I don't want to dump $4000 and get burned by lousy service either.

PM if you'd rather not make your comments public. Thanks.

X2

Good quality hard wood furniture with a smaller price tag, I forgot his name, I can get it in a little while, but had the best experience. Asked us if we needed help and then left us alone while we looked, checked on us every 5-20 minutes and make it very enjoyable to furniture shop

Our bedroom set is from Ashley and the media room is from Gallery. While there haven't been any issues with either I think the Gallery stuff is better quality. The Ashley stuff has some dings from the vacuum and kids but the Gallery stuff has none and they are used/abused equally.

Thanks! I'll give it a look. I know that some of the reviews I was reading pertained to Ashley Furniture not honoring warranty if the furniture was purchased through a 3rd party retailer, and not direct from Ashley.

What sort of warranty did you get out of Furniturecart? The prices at the Ashley store in Webster seemed reasonable. The in-store prices were actually a good bit lower than their website prices.

Stay away from the power (electric) recline stuff at Ashley. We bought a leather sectional with reclining ends in 2012. We were skeptical that it would hold up, but of course the salesperson assured us they are put through rigorous testing. Plus, the 5 year extended warranty would cover it. Well, sure enough one of the power reclining ends went out at the end of 2013. I've just been getting around to getting them to fix it, but guess what the only thing that isnt covered under our extended warranty? The freakin power recline mechanism!!! Shame on me for not reading the fine print, but when you ask a specific question to the person selling to you, you expect an honest answer. I'm still fighting with them over it, but ashley has already lost my business.

I just did all this this last week. We hit Rooms to Go first, wasn't impressed one bit. Went to Star, over priced of same furniture other stores have. Didn't sell in sets.
Ashely was the best for us. Buying experience was great! Salesman introduced himself, and left us alone. Great sales approach, he came by to see if we had any questions, answer them and would leave again. I hate a shadow when Im shopping. Their furniture was great and had many choices. We bought a complete bedroom suite, and will go back to buy our daughters. They are having a Columbus day sale, 20% off or no interest and 15% off till 2019.

We bought at Ashleys in Sugarland, see the salesman Willie, not Willie the manager.

I was about to pull the trigger on a full leather living room set from Ashley till I read about horrible reviews and spoke to people whose furniture is falling apart. If your hell bent on buying Ashley you could have went to Furniture To Love in Stafford and buy the exact same furniture for half the price. They even order buy using Ashley product codes. Am waiting on Gallery Furniture to open there new store here in Fort Bend.

We bought our table and shelves form E&G amish furniture by baybrook and it is awesome.
Purchased our dining room table/chairs, a sofa table, coffee table and end tables plus an entertainment center at E&G Amish in Sugar Land last year. Solid wood and amazing craftsmanship but your not going to "Buy to today and get delivered today". However it is well worth the wait! Very happy with these items! Love that you can choose sizes, wood type, finishes for most items... Very customizable!

We just made our first and last purchase from Ashley. The sales team is very nice and do not pressure you into buying anything. We bought a full bedroom set and when it finally came in two weeks later the only thing we could use after unboxing everything was the footboard. Called the store and they said they would have a technician come out and take a look at it MAYBE in a week. We asked for our money back in return of their pile of junk that was in my room and was told they would charge us a 30% return fee. Someone finally came out and agreed that everything needed to be replaced. That was three weeks ago and I still haven't heard when our new stuff will be delivered. Not happy with them at all.

Yikes. Last couple of purchases I made were at lazy boy due to crappee furniture purchased from ashley and bell. looked great but fell apart within a few years. Lazyboy is good but expensive. I will definitely check the dump out next time. Have heard good things. In fact saw in the paper this morning they are having a big sale. Lets us know how you do.

We bought a house full of new furniture about a year ago from Star in Baybrook. They had to come out to replace a door hinge on our entertainment center but other than that no problems. They aren't the cheapest but they had what we wanted.

I have couches and a master set from rooms to go. Both are junk!

Ashley, my mother bought her couches there. They claim to have a great warranty but in actuality it is through a 3rd party who won't fix anything that breaks.

Gallery, I used to have ( lost in divorce) a bedroom set from there. It was quality hardwood tough stuff. As well as a living room suit. Much better quality that the rest and worth the money in my book.

Howcome no one has shopped at the dump? They have some very nice solid wood furniture and great couches. Gallery is just too over priced to buy from there. I went to GF a couple months ago and saw a bed my wife and I liked, but $7000 for the bed was way to much for a bed. I better be getting some every night for that much. We went to exclusive furniture off 390 and had the same exact bed, same maker, same material, exact same, for $4500. Yes GF is quality, but you can easily buy quality elsewhere if you just look. Too many people drank the "save you MONEY!!!" Koolaide

This is apples and oranges. All of the furniture players have cheap (particle board) furniture and all of them have high end furniture that some call "over priced". There's people that will always say a Cadillac is over priced and a Kia is cheap junk when what it comes down to is what do you want.

Ashley has always been noted for absolutely terrible customer service after the fact. There will be many that say they had great experiences with them but most of them never had an issue to deal with in the first place. Their cheap pricing for cheaply made furniture will continue to hook the guy/gal that pinches pennies. I had an experience with them that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Just note that their management stands behind doing whatever they have to do to make sure they are as deceptive as possible and under no circumstances will they attempt to satisfy the customer due to their inferior product..... and that's as nice as I can be about that.

Call GF over priced if you like but you get what you pay for before, during, and after the sale. Have bought several things from GF and would not hesitate to do so again if they had what I was looking for.

Mattress Mack here. Going for a new bed and sleep tonight. Hope he keeps making his bets, new house started and need a few things. BTW he donated $20,000 of desks and a couch to our new offices for the Police Dept. last week. Good man
