I'm sorry but could someone tell me what is the point in putting in a fishing report that has absolutely no helpful info at all ? I see them all the time where people don't even put what bay system they where in so why don't we just call it the bragging board instead! If you want to be a part of a fishing report lets start reporting something. Just my opinion

Info

First of all, Capt. Clint doesn't need anything from any of you and he as probably forgot more about West Bay than many of you will ever know.
I understand him fine, it's not for him, he does not need any info, what he is asking is that if you are going to waste time with a report that says look what I caught Thursday, why report anything at all. What he is suggesting would be, I caught these fish Thursday in East Bay over shell using Pumpkin seed Bass Assassins, the fish were biting best on an out going tide. Pretty simple and not giving away your honey hole. I'm not so sure why that is so hard to understand!

People can actually learn a few things from reports if there is enough info.
This can be done without pictures and without giving away secret spots.
The Capt. is only looking out for those that can't be on the water everyday, not for himself! Gater

When I go fishing I enjoy the challenge of finding fish for myself.

I want to figure it out for myself, where they are, what they are hitting, etc.....I don't want anyone holding my hand and leading me to the fish.

my worthless .02
You are kind of getting away from what I was asking. I did not ask anyone to give any info that they don't want to , I asked why bother doing a report if you are not trying to help anyone get better. I think the true nature of the report page is to help people that don't get to fish all the time to possibly narrow down the amount of guessing so they too might be able to catch some fish on their very limited time.

I am very vague because I get phone calls from other guides saying that I am giving away too much info. Therefore I try not to say much anymore. There are some guides out there that do not like the idea of the "2cooler guides" trying to get there names out there by posting reports. But they dont pay my bills so I do what I have to. I dont mind helping people find fish at all just because fishing can be very very hard for beginners. As some of you know who talk to me thru pm's I am very approachable and I am willing to help. To me that is what a guide should be. If you are one of my clients I will teach you to be a better fishermen while on my boat. That is why some of teh guys on this site take me out so they can learn more.

You want to see why giving a full report isn't always the best idea???? Just go up Kickapoo Creek and below Lake Livingston Dam and look at the traffic/boat jams down there on any given day. The more the details are given on here and other sites, the more people crowd in there with their boats. If you like a place to yourself.......put it on the Fishing Reports Forum and keep the details to yourself.

I don't think folks do it intentionally-- Some people don't know the info they need to post that would be helpful. They don't fish enough or they don't catch fish enough and in their mind just letting people know that the fish are biting or were when they were out there is enough.
That being said-- I agree with you. Perhaps a form in the reports section might be better. The form would have all the pertinent info. needed to cover the bases without letting people potlick the author. things like bay sytstem, tide, bottom structure, bait thrown, drifting/yaking/wading -- size of fish and speed of retrieve-- as you know some times its really great info to know if the fish are keying on shell- shell-mud- sand or grass etc. dirty water or clean all can be valuable pieces of the puzzle

It's tough to use the internet to find fish these days and try to learn to guide in West Bay. It's a tough job it really is.
If these guys would give just a little more detail a lot of the folk would be able to put their clients on better fish.

There are guides/boat drivers in every Bay system that wouldn't be helped by any basic information. You have to lead them to the spot.

go to the highway 36 and brazos boat ramp. Put in the boat ramp and go up the Brazos. Go around the turn and look for an outfall. Pull your boat onto land and jump the fence. Make sure nobody is coming in a white truck. run down to where the pump station is. Have a buddy on lookout. Best fishing ever. Just make sure to give fish to neighbor.

Anyone know where I'm talking about?

Sure do spent many an afternoon at the pump stations 'working' and wishing I had a pole in the work truck

We love the pictures. Most people don't even bother posting fishing reports due to the 2cool police. spell checkers and all.
lol

no shi*t!! Cornhusker's badge is shinnin!!!!

Hey cornhusker, you didn't have any problems with reports here....

All i say is why name the forum "fishing reports" if your only posting pictures; then you should call it "fishing pictures" Thats all. IMO a fishing report is NOT giving your fishing spot away, only your bait of choice, water color, temp...etc. But hey, yall all know more than I do.
