An observation on Rods breaking

I don't believe the bashing that goes on about rods - are there perhaps better rods than Carrot Stiks undoubtedly - twenty dollar Ugly Stiks will perform as well as $400 Greenwater Gloomis

Its all in the HANDS of the user in most cases ---

I'd state 90% of broken rods are a RESULT of some yahoo tryin to turn the boat over settin the hook

I could teach a class on the number of times I have seen rods broken in that fashion

Same with storage - rods laying loose in bouncing truck beds, boat floors, etc.

Todays rod market mostly blanks and build are Chinee - sometimes there are bad runs of blanks, design as well

I am VERY particular in my rods - but can't see layin out over 100 bucks just for a name

Along with 7' Carrot spinning stiks - you might want to check into Hurricane Red Bone Rods out of Florida - I love the five I have from them $99 bucks each and their 7'6" blanks and build are perfect for coastal fishing.

I have 2 of the carrot sticks myself, the 6ft heavy jigging rods, one spinning and one casting. I havent had any problems with them at all. I have to say this tho, and I dont know what caused it, but 2 months ago I was fishing with these rods off ball Hall pier when a electrical storm blew in, lots of heat lightening and such. And these carrot sticks would shock the heck out of me each time I made a cast. I mean blue sparks and crackel"s and cursing and swearing and real pain. I had to put on rubber fish handling gloves to make a cast. The ugly stick surf rod didnt shock me, so all I can figure is the carrot stix, the braid, the charged air, somehow added up.

Looks like enough 2 coolers bashing Carrotsticks

What is your opinion on Carrot Stix rods? I have a few of their nice rods and had a guy tell me the other day how they were no good. Just wondering y'alls opinion on them good or bad. Thanks
Prolly don't need any more but I bought the wife one cause it was so light and excellent feel put a new reel on it w/10 # premium line. My only mistake was taking her REDFISHING. As LONG as it was in the garage it was fine. First nice red it wasn't. NUFF SAID!!!

I have a carrot stick and have worn out the trout and big slot reds with it on multiple occasions; Have caught Bass to 11lbs. with it as well. Even took it to Canada and took some big gator pike for a go-round. Haven't had any problems with it yet....(knock on wood). Its all about the hookset....May the bashing go on, my experiences have been good. Must have received a good blank.

I own 6 carrot stixs have 5 spinning and 1 casting. All of these rods were bought new when they first came out. I love them they are great rods and have some great stopping and turning power. I do believe that the quality has dropped in the last year or so. I have moved on to other rods lately for casting but still use my spinning rods to this day. I have only broken 1 so far and that was my fault due to my tailgate. I believe that all the breakage was due to user error and that is why they are getting a little negative attention now. I would still buy them but my local supplier says he won't work with Carrot Stix anymore due to warranty change and stopped selling them. So I've moved to Kistler now and well see how they do.
