Came down to the house last night to check on the repairs to the Robalo, we've got a fuel restriction issue now so it kept me on the dock instead of hitting all the lights I wanted to.
Ended up catching about 10 trout one went a nice 24" on fly. I had two that got off doing a head shake on me. The one lure I use I normally flatten the barb because the trout love to inhale it and doing this insures most are released unharmed of course it goes both ways as I can have them throw the hook a lot easier.
Didn't keep any they were all tossed back. Best action was after midnight but they started showing up a little after 10PM. I always have better luck over surface lights rather than the underwater lights.
Its a fun & especially cool way to spend the evenings during the Summer!
Best baits are glow soft plastics, speck tails (I like the green ones) I use an imitation minnow on my fly and they can't resist it.
As the water gets warmer we'll see more and more of the "moby" trout start coming into the lights. I can't wait!
