Maybe google maps. Drop a pin and go to it with walking directions. Never tried it that way but could work

 

Navionics uses imagery.

 

which version do you have? The Marine and Lakes USA version my buddy has does not have imagery on the water. The land is satellite imagery but the water is not. Maybe there is an option to switch to satellite imagery???

The one I use is like 10 bucks. Well worth every penny. I like the tide part of it. Easy to use

 

I notice that app is available again on my phone.So your saying it is well worth the 10 bucks or so?How accurate is when your in the water or at one of your fishin spots?

 

No, the water is not but it shows depth and reefs. Im not sure what else you want?
If i want to see detail of the water i use google maps or the iphone default map.
If you want satellite imagery of the water AND waypoints/tracking i dont know.

The difference is that I don't want to look at an illustration with approximate locations of reefs! With satellite imagery, you can actually see many of the reefs through the water so there is no guesswork! I've been doing it for years and plugging in the locations to my handheld gps but if the iphone could do both at once, that would be awesome!

Android has GPS Essentials that uses Google maps and shows aerial over water.

 

There is no way to currently do it ala Navionics platinum plus on my NSS8. The Navionics app on the iPhone/ipad overlays the Navionics charts on to sat images, but there is no way to adjust the opaqueness of the charts so you can see both at the same time. I use a combination of all 3 to plot a coarse on my Simrad. I also take my ipad with me and have google maps and Navionics active so I can quickly reference all information.

I have that app, but have never even opened it...lol. It looks like it may be the ticket.

 

I tried the satellite views form apple and bing on that app. Not very good compared to google. See screen shots of the J-hook in POC

 

I want a app that catches the fish for me any tips? ;-)

I've always used MotionX
It use to have the same map as google earth, but was updated last summer to the new less detailed map. They update it constantly so once the the " winter low tide shots are updated it should be back to the earth version... I hope
