All you smart phone fisherman, I finally got a smart phone and I am excited about being able to use it as a gps and be able to choose precise areas to fish (reefs, etc...) from satellite imagery. What applications do you guys use for this? My buddy has navionics on his iPhone but the water is not shown as a satellite image but instead, it is an illustration. I want an app that has satellite imagery where i can zoom in and pinpoint specific locations to go and fish. Google Earth has great images but doesnt allow you to select a spot/waypoint and "Go To" it. Any suggestions appreciated?

which version do you have? The Marine and Lakes USA version my buddy has does not have imagery on the water. The land is satellite imagery but the water is not. Maybe there is an option to switch to satellite imagery???

I notice that app is available again on my phone. So your saying it is well worth the 10 bucks or so?How accurate is when your in the water or at one of your fishin spots?

The difference is that I don't want to look at an illustration with approximate locations of reefs! With satellite imagery, you can actually see many of the reefs through the water so there is no guesswork! I've been doing it for years and plugging in the locations to my handheld gps but if the iphone could do both at once, that would be awesome!

There is no way to currently do it ala Navionics platinum plus on my NSS8. The Navionics app on the iPhone/ipad overlays the Navionics charts on to sat images, but there is no way to adjust the opaqueness of the charts so you can see both at the same time. I use a combination of all 3 to plot a coarse on my Simrad. I also take my ipad with me and have google maps and Navionics active so I can quickly reference all information.

I've always used MotionX
It use to have the same map as google earth, but was updated last summer to the new less detailed map. They update it constantly so once the the " winter low tide shots are updated it should be back to the earth version... I hope
