I've got a old Benjamin Franklin air rifle that need some TLC. Does anyone have contact info for local repair guy? Rifle won't make pressure and possible pellets stuck in barrel. Thanks in advance for any and all help. 4o9.771o994 Brent

There is a guy in North Texas I have used in the past for air rifle repairs. If I can find his card I'll give you his info. I'll warn you he is a crabby old fart but does good work.

If you want to try the DIY route, this is most likely what you need:

Stuck pellets can be pushed out using a cleaning rod.

This for additional info:

older gentleman so give him time to answer or leave a message.  He will only fix what is necessary too! He also informed me to make sure and keep one or two pumps in the gun when stored as this prolongs the seal life.

oil it

We have had a few Benjamins. Occassionally, they would not hold air if unused for a long time. The leather needs to be oiled periodically. On ours, there was a small hole on the pump chamber that we would squirt a a little gun oil into. On one occassion when the gun had not been used for years, it took a few days for the leather to absorb the oil and create a seal.

We always stored it with one or two pumps.

Great guns.

I had this fella repair my old Benjamin here several years back. Always store it with one pump of air in it. It is still a hard hitting mofo!

George is a Texan who fixes American pneumatics. His business card says "Benjamin, Sheridan and old Crosman model 140/1400 pneumatic air rifle repair." He puts them back to factory specs. I've shot a vintage Sheridan he resealed, and he did a great job. Not only does the gun shoot like new, he didn't mess up the vintage finish on a significant collectible while he did the work! George is at heligun1@msn.com or 512-863-2951. George A Pena (512) 863-2951 116 Woodmont Dr, Georgetown, TX 78628

Sadly, George and his wife were in a head on crash two-three years ago, both died. George was a long time friend of mine, he also was a chopper mech out on the rigs off shore.

Thanks for all the good info. I did the oil trick and now she pumps up strong!! I'll be leaving 2 pumps on it now when not in use. Also FYI Phil Sherrod is now in assisted living and no longer working on air guns, nice guy and very knowledgeable, had a nice chat with him. Thanks again.

Thanks to those posting repair locations/people. Got my first one when I was 8 y/o. Took it out of the safe after reading this and still pumps up good. I remember the advice about storing it with a couple of pumps. I had forgotten about that, but apparently I had done it last time I had it out. Might have to contact the people mentioned. I took it apart when I was a kid and lost the BB that makes the safety work, in deep shag carpet that was the style in the 70's. Have a Benjamin pistol also, but got it when I was about 13 or so and it has the plastic grips, not the older collectible wood grip models.
