Got our 2014 22TRS from Mt.Houston love the boat, rides like a tank. All that said those purebays are awesome as well. Just depends on what you like Danny and Tyler do a great job at showing you the boats and letting you decide.

Thanks for the replies .....

Josh can elaborate more because he has had both the F300 and SHO on HPS's but both are in the 65 range with the extra speed going to the F300 boat by a couple MPH. With a full load the SHO is more 63-65 while the F300 is 65 any day. Both are great setups.

I know the Black Jack with a 300 Yammy will do 65. I know the HPS is a good boat no question, I just question speed people come up with sometime, No biggie its all good. The SHO did not reach those speeds on the two I rode in with very experienced guys. The ride was phenomenal.

I have hit 66 and change in my 2300 hps running light in perfect conditions in a good chop. The step hull likes the chop. Every day loaded running is more like 62-64 depending on beer and fuel load. The F300 boats are faster but the SHO has the holeshot edge. There is a video of me running loaded in Trinity last year in the link.

I have a 2015 Purebay 2200 with a 150 Yamaha. Absolutely love it. Rides extremely dry and routinely hits 50 mph with a t-top and not much cargo. If I could do over the only thing I would change is going with a 175 or 200 motor. Personally I didn't see the benefit of paying more for a Pathfinder.

Little Biased as well with my handle. Truly loved the BlackJack. Bill Kenner spent a lot of time on the design and it shows throughout. Fit and finish, felt comfortable in most all water conditions. One of the smoothest rides in a bay boat.
Used to be more Pathfinders in Rockport Key Allegre than any other boat. They are light, and fast.
Blue Wave has certainly come a long ways in the boat building business. Wouldnt give them a second look years ago, but have moved up in regards.

List is in order of price point as well if that helps.

Hey Guys, thanks for the good word but I am now at LMC MARINE. Both are excellent boats but you should take a look at my Skeeter Bay boats.

This SX230 is a 23'6" boat with a 10 inch draft. I have this 2016 left with a Power-Pole and a 250 SHO. I have posted a picture of our "BOAT SHOW WINDOW STICKER". This price holds until Saturday night when we update our web site.

This is "TOTAL DRIVE OUT" pay nothing more !!!

My current boat:

2016 Pathfinder 2300 HPS with 250 SHO... with my every day running prop (4 blade HS4) and two guys (225 lbs & 260 lbs), tournament loaded (1 cooler, trolling motor, large 75 lb platform up front, rods, tackle, etc.) and 3/4 tank of fuel I got 64.3 on the GPS. If you want to empty out the boat of all the stuff and only one guy you could get 66 range, but who runs like that. 62-63 is about the normal running top end for these boats with 250 SHO with normal gear. If your friends boats aren't running that they just aren't propped right or driving it right. (I get my best speed with jackplate on 2 and trim until it's just breaking the surface, no rooster tail)

My previous boat:

2013 Pathfinder 2300 HPS with F300. The best I ever saw was 67.8 but that was with a 3 blade that was terrible at everything except top end. I only ran that prop for long hauls. My every day prop was the Rev4 - 23 pitch and it would run 65 mph all day long & had great performance getting up and turning. I was thrilled with that combo. Even with a heavy load, livewells, 3-4 guys I could get 62-63... can't complain with that.

If I had it to do over again I would get the F300. It's not as punchy out of the hole, the SHO wins with holeshot... but everything else the F300 is better. Much better MPG's. Quieter and electronic shifting was awesome.

I am biased also, have had Mako's Kenner and now own one of the best built boats I have ever owned a 22' Pathy with T top. Fish Baffin, West Bay and some short offshore on a good day. It is smooth and dry, lots of storage, wish I had a Yammy 250 I have a Yammy 150 but it does around 46 kts, which in most conditions is faster than you are going to be able to stand anyway. I went to the Houston Boat Show, looked at new PF, not enough change to make me buy a new one. But I will say the 24' Blue Wave is sure tempting with a 300 hp on it. Nothing like new toys. At the end of the day my PF is a lot of boat, and will always hold its value. **** now I am thinking about that 24' Blue Wave with the see through bait well and hard top. Got to quit looking at 2cool.

If it's your 1st boat buy used and cheap. It takes time to learn the bay system you're going to fish as well as simple things like loading and unloading the boat, pulling up to a dock, etc.... make your mistakes in less expensive boat and then once you're confident upgrade to your dream boat. Also, if this is your first boat what you think is your dream now will change depending on how and where you fish. I was soooooo happy to dump the 20' blue wave for a Majek Illusion. I never woudve thought I wanted an illusion when I first bought a boat. Just my 2 cents. Take it for what it's worth.
