This is a thread to discuss this hull and spread knowledge and experiences as well as pros/cons and that sort of thing.

Ive got a 21 foot cat from a local boat maker down here in south Texas. Its the exact same hull as the old ultra cats/majek ultra cats. To give y’all a picture of how its rigged and weight/drag: its got a front casting platform, rear tower, giant t-top over a raised console, 112lb ulterra, dual power pole, 200 suzuki with a 21p powertech CFS4, 40gal tank. Loaded with gear, fuel and 2-3 people it drafts less than 1ft at rest, maybe even closer to 10in. Needs over 1ft of water to get up tho and thats doing a left spin and jackplate as far down as possible - mostly below 3in. Also benefits greatly from doing a left spin up in depths below 2.5-3ft as well otherwise it kinda struggles more than it should. I know this holeshot situation is due to prop but I have a whole separate thread on that and will invest in a new prop soon enough. The hull itself rides pretty good, takes rough water quite well and can run shallow in sub 1ft with no issue maybe even close to sub 8in. I do not have the motor mounted as high as possible and at 6in on the jackplate the skeg is still a few inches below the hull at neutral trim so pushing it shallow could possibly result in the skeg dragging a bit - not sure if anyone has ever ran this hull any higher. I have found that drifting in this boat is extremely annoying as it constantly does this weird bow to stern drift while drifting parallel to the wind - what i mean by this is that if you have a south wind the boat will want to drift with the nose facing east or west (however you position it) no matter what you do or how you turn the motor. Then it proceeds to do this bow to stern "walk" as it drifts where it will turn about 45 degrees bow side and then turn 45 degrees stern side, essentially it wont just drift evenly and is constantly shifting. Not sure if this is due to the cat style hull with the giant tunnel gap in the middle of it or the t-top catching the wind. Ive also noticed its got a pretty noisy hull slap, especially when the current is smacking into the front side of the boat.

Id like to know everyone's experience with this hull along with their performance numbers and advice on how shallow they were able to holeshot in and run in, how smooth they feel it would ride, what they did to make the boat better overall and how they feel it stands up to other cats out there. Its not a thread to necessarily diss the hull or praise the hull, rather just for me to learn a bit more about it and what should be expected of it since I really dont see much on it. Thanks!

Are you referring to a Shallow Stalker? If so that is a Banjo hull not the Ultracat. If someone else is making a copy of an Ultracat hull, what company is it?

I had a 20' Ultracat back in 2006 and it had the exact same characteristics that you mentioned. Hole shot was right around 12" once I got it propped right.
As far as the hull slap, I am pretty sure all the cat hulls do that because of the design

Negative, not shallow stalker. Its a shallow master, a relatively new company down here that started gaining a lot of traction within the past year or two I would say. Didnt know of them till i got this thing. If you look at pictures of ultra cat hulls and this one its literally the same exact thing, so its 100% an ultra cat hull and if not then its 99.9% one.

Were you able to make it drift straight and even by doing anything instead of walking like it does? Also what did you power it with and how fast were you able to get? When you would hole shot out of 12in was it straight out or doing the left spin up? And were you able to get up with you jackplate raised really high or did the hull not like it/not provide proper tunnel flow to the prop?

Interesting. But Shallow Master started out with a splashed hull so it’s not surprising

only way I could make it track somewhat straight was by attaching a drift sock to the front cleat. I had a 150 etec and it ran in the upper 40’s. It was a relatively heavy hull so I had to spin to get up but would do it with ease. Reason for spinning was because it would not get up with a straight hole shot with the JP at 6. It would just blow out.

I will be trying the drift sock thing next time i go out, thanks. I've been meaning to try it but I always get caught up and forget in the moment.
Considering your cat was only 1 foot shorter than mine and had 50hp less thats pretty good speed and performance. I can barely get past 40 on a good day, I guess that t-top is putting an insane amount of drag on it! What kind of prop did you run? I know pitch and all those numbers aren't going to translate considering its a different motor as well as different horsepower and gear ratio, but I'm curious. You’re getting much better numbers than I am with a smaller motor at only 1 foot different in boat length. I have struggled in the prop department since I couldnt really find anything at all anywhere about my motor/hull combo for a good prop. My previous post about prop selection had guys telling me I should not pitch up (I was running a 19p OFX4) when there was 0 bite and no holeshot as well as completely blowing through 6300rpm fully jacked down and trimmed down. Ended up going to the 21p CFS4 and it completely changed the boat for the better, but even then its still not where I want it to be. I didnt have the time to get something like a foreman either. Its a strange hull/motor combo to be able to get the correct prop right away since the ultra cat has not been produced for a long time and not many people are using it and those that do dont have a later model suzuki that turns bigger props due to the gear ratio they have compared to all other outboards.
