Near Shore Spots

Hi guys, new to the forum and area. I'm running a smaller center console 21' and looking for some near shore areas for offshore fishing. I've got two kids under 10 and am interested in drifting/trolling for kings, tarpon, jacks etc (anything to keep them busy in the boat!) this summer. I was hoping to find something north of Freeport and south of Galveston. With kids age needing to find possible spots (humps, lumps, wrecks) within 4-5 miles of shore, possibly a little bit further. I realize this may be a limited area but with kids I have to limit the hours/distance on water. Any help with this would be GREATLY appreciated.

FYI we would only be fishing during the week a handful of days a year and I only go fishing when I'm with the kids.
