Live Oak Bayou and lake Austin

I just wanted to find out about navigating the Bayou off the IC up to lake Austin. From looking at Google earth it’s appears that if I stay to the right side of the bayou I should be ok. I have a pretty shallow running boat. Also has anyone been on Chiqapin road lately. I have heard there is a boat ramp there that would save me a long boat ride from Sargent or Matagorda harbor. Any help
Would be greatly appreciated

You might save a LONG boat ride but you'll give yourself a LONG BUMPY tow over washboard gravel road with a trailer. Honestly, I'd take the ICW in the boat over towing the trailer on that road.

I'll let Kevin tell you about LiveOak bayou ...

We were thinking of trying Lake Austin via ICW the weekend of 9/18. Would you mind passing on advice received? We’ve ventured up Live Oak before, but not all the way up to Lake Austin.

I ran the Mako to the camps a few weeks back, but that was it. And had a camp owner running the boat on the way in, laided a track for me to follow on the way out. But I don't even know that area, I only pass it on the ICW when passing through. It's tricky.
