Kurt Stansil was on the Outdoor Show Saturday. and reported minimal damage to the lodge, and their homes, some water in the office, and 4 a\c units blown away. he said when they get power, they will be fishing.

I personally talk to Kirk, said the bottom floor was flooded, but not as much damage as expected.....they will be up and running soon. He will be calling individuals on trips that were booked.

But the un-survivable 20 foot storm surge.

It is awesome it was over hyped and they are going to get back to business sooner than later and no major damage.

Good to hear. I've been to Hackberry about once a year since 2012. Super nice folks and great fishing.

When I had my company, I bought 15 trips per year and customers loved it. Remember the old Night Stalker ? Now, that was a hoot !

it was overhyped on the storm surge only, not on the wind. the one thing that may have lessened the blow, was how fast the storm was moving. it rolled into the gulf on a mission to set a record for least amount of time in the gulf, and didn't slow once it hit land, it ripped through and kept rolling on out. if these sustained winds would have been slower moving, and hung around, it would have been much more lethal.

we've made a supplies delivery (water and gasoline)trip friday and again yesterday, the place is devastated, completely destroyed. people have no electricity, and some have been told it will be out for weeks. the drinking water got contaminated, people's wells were destroyed. the area is in need of lots of help. so no water, or electricity, a lot of the trailers disintegrated into rubble.

these people are in serious help of supplies, and help. the number of massive broken trees is unexplainable, until you attempt to drive through it. only the main streets are passable, most are obstructed with trees and debris. many neighborhoods are inaccessible. thousand and thousands of 50 plus year old trees laying everywhere. glad hackberry Rod and Gun was spared, most weren't so lucky.

I completely understand and have many friends that live there. We are reaching out to help them in any way we can. What you described is what we here in my neighborhood in Houston lived after Ike. Houses had some damage but no electricity for 2 weeks..
