Austwell Boat Ramp?

Anybody ever use the ramp over there? Wondering what it’s like, I’m thinking about trailering my boat there from Seadrift to fish that shoreline of SA bay if the ramp is in decent shape. I’ve got a 21 foot JH v-hull. Thanks in advance!

Sounds good, thanks, hopefully this storm didn’t do anything to it. I’ll check it out later this week.

The storm did not really do much here except a little wind and rain.

I took a drive up there last year to check it out because I wanted to do the same thing. It looked pretty iffy to me. A buddy said he has used it plenty of times and told me to be careful because there was a lot of shallow reefs in that area. I have been wanting to fish the refuge shoreline but dont want to make the long wide open run across SA Bay.

I wonder if there are any maps of Hynes Bay and vicinity. I like to use Hook N Line maps if I don’t know an area - they’re not foolproof but I think they’re a good start. The ones I’ve seen only cover the lower half of SA Bay, unfortunately.

I have the Hook Line and Sinkers from West matagorda to LLM, they are definitely helpful. IMO the ramp at Hoppers Landing looks really sketchy.

The ramp at Hopper's isn't the best, but still very usable. Lots of reefs close by, but also lots of good fishing. If i had any kind of cat style boat, i wouldn't be concerned.

I’m thinking about launching there later this week but I’ve never fished there so I’m a little leery. My boat goes decently shallow with the motor jacked up on plane, but I only like to run that way in places I know well, that’s why I’m scouting for a map.

I have ran a lot of that shoreline launching from Seadrift, really not that far of a run.
I have a Navionics chip on my sonar and it is very accurate for reef locations..
You can run the shoreline from the Seadrift dock going north towards the barge canal and then turn left and run along the south shoreline between Guadalupe bay and Haynes and head over to the far shoreline.

bad side of Haynes bay is you pretty much have all San Antonio bay pushing dirty water up into it with a typical SW wind. If you can get in there with a light N, NW wind it can be really good. We are going this weekend and might go dependant upon the wind

I have thought about putting in at Austwell but never got what I felt was solid info one the ramp condition
