I bought a slightly used 36v riptide terrova. For whatever reason, it ended up getting water in the motor.

I took it all apart and cleaned it up and replaced all the bad parts. The skeg was broke off, so I order that part of the housing.

I put it all together and submerged it in a cooler of water, overnight. The next morning I popped it open and it was dry. Thought I was good to go.

Saturday it stopped working again. It took it off to pop it open and for whatever reason, none of my sockets would fit the bolts. I tried a 5/16,7mm and 8mm.the bolt head is also rusted looking. I could have swore they were SS!

What really bothered me is that the brand new skeg part part was corroded real bad and 1/8" deep corroded flakes came off. It was in that water for probably less than 3 hours combined. I also spray it off good, after each weekend of use (fish Saturday and Sunday and then wash off on Sunday afternoon)

I also saw more pitting. I had a 24v one that was way more used when I bought it and then used it for about a year and a half, and it never corroded like that.

Thoughts? What color is that? I'll get some good epoxy paint and clean it up and re-paint.
