High winds, decent day.

Went out at sunup, weather looked perfect, winds at 5 to 10mph from the south, moon rising just before the sun. I'm thinking major/ minor feeding time overlapping.( game on). Well maybe for the first hour but after that , winds were 15 to 20mph southwest...not good at all. We did manage 8 trout, with a big girl dying on us. Im not sure what happened, put her in the livewell to get some good aeration, 10 minutes later she was bellied up. She was not hooked deep or bleeding at all....any ideas?

I think that big girl was in her last rodeo, and was headed for crab bait in the future.
Big ole trout, grey and few spots, I'm betting she was old and it didn't take much stress.

Age and stress was my guess too.

The confinement stress after an exhausting fight, coupled with water quality in the well (vs. the open bay water) may not have helped that senior big girl as much as you intended. Good try though and glad that you found them.

Reel thing, I did not fish fort travis this time cause the wind was pushing straight into it.....surprisingly enough the south jetty was clearer than the north jetty. We fished the channel side until it muddied up.....

I agree with others that she died from the fight and weakness from old age. Man way to grind it out though.

Thank you, when a few swells come over the bow, but you are still hanging some studs, makes one more cast alot easier. Lol
