Upcoming fronts

With these much needed fronts approaching, and more to come, what are you guys approaches, as far as fishing and planning your trips? What are your experiences as far as before, or after for better fishing? Also, what are some of the tactics you execute?

These first front's tend to be a little weak but as the season progresses the period a few hours before the front is always the best for me. As the barometric pressure drops pre-front the fish go crazy...

I plan to be in the surf around Mustang island. I was wondering the same. A few people are telling me a strong north wind will also lay the surf flat.. that true?

It sure will but with these first few front's you probably won't see much of a true north wind. It will most likely have a more northeast/east northeast direction to it keeping the tides high and beachfront rough and sandy.

Probably mid to late November before we get a true blue norther with strong north to northwest wind that blows the tides out and flattens the surf.

Had one of my best days ever fishing before a front. Only think I would say is keep an eye on the weather as it will often change fast this time of year.

I usually have my best days pre front, as well. I was just wondering if anyone had any different experiences. Truly is nice to be out there this time of year, I’m getting pumped up.

I hope we don't fall into the pattern of fronts hitting on Friday evening this year. Seems like when we get in that pattern, it ruins just about all the weekend fishing hopes for the fall. They like to roll in about 7 days apart it seems. Makes it really difficult on us weekend warriors to even have fishable conditions at times.

Anybody have any tips for fishing after a front? I'm going to be in POC this weekend trying to make the best of it. At least it looks like the wind will lay down pretty quickly after the frontal passage Saturday afternoon. How would y'all fish POC with a 10-15mph easterly wind?

These first 2 won't have much of an effect, but once a good blue northern comes through, it will change the patterns appreciably.

Right now, the birds are working and that's the first real change for me. Early morning topwater wades followed by running after the birds later. But it will be another month at least before fish start to move off of shoreline structure to deeper water structure.
