A lot of guys use 4's and 6's. But honestly last time I used them I used a no.2 Kahle Gammy and I loved it.. much easier to get the hook out, had an identical hook up ratio.

#8, but size of shrimp could mean a #6 or #10

#8 for me. Hook them in the horn, they swim better and attract more game fish.

Trout Support hit the nail on the head. Treble hooks with live shrimp produce much greater mortality on undersize specks. Small Kahle hooks are much easier to remove and less injurious to fish that will be released. Kahle hooks tend to stick in the corner of the mouth whereas trebles lodge in the gills and gullet tissue.

#6 VMC 9626 is my usual. It's a very strong hook for it's size, you won't bend them up. I use #4s sometimes as well.

Single hooks work fine if you know what you are doing and are good at setting the hook. I grew up using nothing but 3/0 single hooks for any type of shrimp and they work fine. I see an increase in hookups for less skilled anglers with trebles which is why I use them. I get alot of folks who have a hard time hooking fish and it gives them a little extra help.

Troutsupport is right on the money. I got away from the trebles.

I use Eagle Claw O'shaughnessy stainless #2 hooks. Very very strong and stay sharp longer.

Hard to find....i like them so much the last time i found them for sale i bought them all....have about a thousand.....should last me thru the year.

Cut the line and the fish will work it loose .... sacrifice the hook not the fish

When I used trebles, it was depending on the size of the shrimp, but ranged from #4s to #8s. Not sure I have hooked a shrimp onto a treble hook in 10-12 years
