waterloo ultra mag vs hp lite

anyone have either of these or experience with them? I own 2 salinitys, was wondering if the extra cost for the 2 mentioned above would be any beneficial to what I already have.

I have a phantom, salinity, bait runner, and a slag mag. I don’t find a huge deference between them, beside my baitrunner is of course longer. Between the salinity and my slam mag, the eyes and the quickness is the the only huge difference I can find. I know you were asking about the ultramag, not the slam mag ,But the slam mag is only one down to the ultramag. Just figure I would give my 2 cents.

No problem, like I said, the salinity is a moderate action I believe and the higher priced Waterloo’s are faster actions.

sight-cast is a Landlubber (+10 to -10)
The Ultra Mag has a stronger backbone than the HP Lite but with a faster tip. The Hp Lite still has plenty of backbone but will but a little faster when it comes to action. The Ultra mag is great for Tops and Corkies, I love an HP Lite for tails. My favorite is the HP Slam Mag, very strong backbone but not too much. with all that being said the rods are all great, you just have to throw one of each at least once to see what action you like best. You can't ever have enough rods IMO!!!

Love my Salinity. I've used an HP Lite and can't justify the extra cost over salinity. Maybe except the recoil guides.

Also have 2 Phantoms. Have yet to find a rod that good for the price.

My fav rod to date though is my Sarge Priest. 2.6oz, and you can feel anything and everything on the end of your line.

I am one of the few not a fan of the Ultra Mag. Too heavy for my liking.

I have an Ultra Mag, HP Lite, and 2 Salinity. Cost is always relative to how deep your pockets are, but, I’d wager all else being equal I’d catch 95-99.9% as many fish on the Salinity as the Customs. What’s that (and recoil guides) worth to you?

Take a look at the Laguna Liquid as well
