tarpon no clips

never used a clip because I've heard too many of these stories, tie directly to the lure. I use a four foot 20lb mono leaded tied to 8/30 braid. And when I'm throwing tails I tie a small swivel on the end of my mono leader, then tie another foot or so of mono to the other end of the swivel, then to a jig head. So I have braid to mono, to swivel, to mono to jig head. I like to use the swivel to keep my line from getting twisted, but the swivels don't seem to help that much. After a few hours of throwing tails, my line seems to have a lot of twisting in it. Didn't mean to hijack the thread.

Leaders? We don’t need no stinking leaders.

If you are going to use a speed clip - I'd highly recommend the Tony Clip.

Never had an issue using them in the past, but now days I don't really see the need. Great product though...never lost anything with them tied on.

I'm in this category for sure. Always have been, ... in fact somewhere on this board is a post of me telling people the risks of using these, beauty of the internet I guess. It's just one more thing to go wrong. Good knot doesn't take too long to tie.

I always use a direct knot, and a bad knot takes even less time to tie, ha.

I have always tied a Knot. Tried the clips twice. Both times I had a bad experience, two different brands. Lesson learned. Took me two times but I have learned this time.
