Saluria/POC route question

Heading over toward the old base/south shoreline I always cut up through where the blue line is. Thinking about heading out there in my pontoon barge for our camping trips this winter and know for sure it won't make it that route, so wondering if it'll go through where the red line is. I've never gone through there so unsure of the depth but I seem to recall might be a little channel in there somewhere. I'd rather not have to go straight across the bay with the Northerns that I always find myself playing with.

The red line will work. Stay off shore about 100 yds and you should be fine.

Happy camping. Blessings, ><>

Actually the blue line will work if you run it right, but you don't have much room for error. Hit the cut south of Bayucos, and then run between the shoreline and oyster reef south of Grass Island and close to Fairwell and the point. I run that line in my Boston Whaler. But yes, obviously you can run the red line, that's wide open and it would be safer in case you missed your line.

Run the redline . No problem The channel is marked by pvc post but follow the line of post to your right. The edge of the channel is close to the pvc poles stay to the left of them and have the next one in sight as you stay in the channel . At the end of the channel is a wooden post close to the east end of Grass Island. Once you get to that point you can travel along Grass Island until you clear the West end of Grass Island. There is an oyster reef about 2/3 rds of the way down Grass. Don't run over it. There should be some pelicans standing on it.
There is a small gas well structure just off the end of Grass. It can be shallow between there and the end of the island. Best to go around it on the outside to be safe. I am not talking about the big platform. Then dead head for the airbase dock. It has gotten a little tricky just outside the entrance to the harbor because of the shallow bars on both sides.
Enjoy the camping and plan your trips for when there is no public hunt going on or you will have a lot of company.

You can definitely screw up either way. Red line is shallow outside the PVC markers. Blue line you need to know for sure.

I run the blue on the regular, no issues in the Boatright no way that pontoon barge will make it across the two flats where I run. I ended up taking the Boatright so can't update yet but I'll let yall know how it works out in January. I didn't notice any markers on the red line route. Planned to investigate but ran short on time.

Why not just run down to sanctuary cut and go around grass.

Sanctuary Cut lol....For 60 plus years it's been the Army Cut

It's across an open Espiritu Santo Bay and it can be sporty with any hard wind.
