If you are looking for spinning:
Shimano Spheros 10k or larger, you want 300yds of 65lb indicator braid (I use tuffline) to a spro swivel to a fluorocarbon leader to your lure or jig.

For conventional, go with talica 10 or bigger with same setup.

Shakespeare tiger lite rods are great rods, cheap price, no ceramic inserts so can cast a popper a long way.

No tuna for mine, but I caught a lot of snapper and kinds over the summer and did a lot of speed jigging 5 and 7 lures on mine. Great reel.
