Trinity river advice

Buddy and I are looking to put in south of the lake Livingston dam in a little 14’ Jon boat with a 9.9. Plan on running down river and fishing finding a place to camp and coming back up river the following day. Any advice tips or ticks are welcomed. Any good places to camp? Anywhere to stay away from? Planning on doing this Saturday and Sunday. Looking for some catfish and maybe some gar. First time never done this before so all info appreciated.

River is running high and likely to get higher. Ya'll will likely not find any dry sand bars to camp on. Be careful.

No good. Especially below the dam. Harmon Creek may be an option to fish for the day.

Water may be too high for harmon creek marina. No place to camp on the creek with the river this high. May try white rock creek. Pay to camp at white rock city marina and go up creek for catfish. Come back and camp out and run some lines. Check the trailer website and see how much rain was on the white rock creek watershed.

If you get sideways on the river, you are in dangerous ground. All I can say is wear your life preservers at all times.
