Assistance please Venice LA. LAST MINUTE TRIP.

I am in Venice for the weekend and not familiar with the area. I have a 24' seahunt CC. I am not looking for secret spots but can you help a brother out with a few cords and species the expect. I would like to get into some blackfin tuna if possible. Thank yall. This was a last minute trip or I would have done my own due diligence.

We went a few years back and caught the snot out of blackfin at night here. It is a spar rig in DEEP water. The run from Venice Marina to the end of SW pass is about 20 miles and really foggy sometimes. We tried YFT on another trip but had no idea what we were doing and ended up catching sharks and barracudas all day...another guy advised we were way too close to the rig in daylight and to move away from rig and chum with chopped up pogies for YFT in daylight

Medusa — at or about 28°23.559’ N~ 89°27.210’ W. The Murphy Exploration Company’s Medusa Spar platform is in the northern part of Leased Block 582 of the Mississippi Canyon about 34.7 miles at a 182-degree (magnetic) bearing from the Southwest Pass channel gong buoy Green No. 1.

The last trip we did we went out of SW pass , stopped at a few rigs on the way to Midnight lump and caught some mangrove snappers, we trolled around Midnight lump and caught a few bonitos and Kingfish went to Medusa (fed sharks and barracudas as above) and back into SW pass...Nice long trip for a day run.

Venice can be a tight lipped place.
Try to follow some one down one of the passes if you can.
Fog should not be an issue this time of year.
South LA is pretty much fishing Heaven.

Try lots of of different ways to catch fish.
Red Fish, snapper and all offshore fish should be good.

The most important thing is you need to pick a safe pass and leave early.
Take your time and come back well before dark.

Wish I was There!
