The video where the guy keeps the main line in his teeth and leans the rod and reel away from him is how I tie it when i use this knot.

Same here, super easy as it will come out perfect every time, almost without even looking, good for low light situations.

I taught my wife how to tie the FG using this method, and within a couple of tries at it she was tying them like a pro

regardless of which way you skin the cat, the half hitches did not hold the knot in place after fishing for a while. the eyes will burger up the half hitches after a while. the rizzuto finish did stop this. I use the FG/rizzuto finish and works great. a million cast will not budge the rizzuto finish. my only knot for joining leader to braid, bi bi back to back uni knot.

ive tied these on the boat in crummy conditions before, not fun but doable. honestly ive never used a dowel or anything like that to get them that tight, never had one slip either. but cool idea.

The knot pullers are handy for some other things such as bottom snags. Anything that requires you to pull on braid (or mono).

Very neat idea, thanks for sharing. I've been using plain dowel rods and get a lot of slippage.

i personally never try to loose snags by hand, i only ever use boat cleats. Couple loops around and there ya go much safer. i wasnt saying its was a bad deal at all... i like the idea, i was just saying that i personally havent needed one for getting an fg that tight.
i know mike personally, fished on my boat many times. i think he made a cool widget.
