I think we are approaching the peak Axis hunting time. It seems like May to July is the best since they seem to be mating. Anyone do any Axis hunting recently or planning to go? I think I'll go late May/early June with our trip to Hawaii and a doctor's appointment. Oh well, we'll see!

I just got on a lease in Uvalde. We’ve been tracking them every time we go. Other members have said they only stay in one area but I have seen this isn’t correct. I think I’ll be pretty successful. My lease authorizes 5 Axis doe and one Axis buck.

Axis Rut

I got my Ezy-Axis call and I'll take it to the stand on my next trip in late May. My alpha buck is gonna think there's a new sheriff in town! If he does come a runnin' looking for a fight I'll let him walk (unless he attacks me). Any young bucks with an attitude better watch out though! I have respect for elders but none for these smart-*** whipper snappers!

Let me know how it works. I’m new to Axis hunting.
