What can you tell me about this gun? How old might it be? Value? Again, selling for niece...

Looks like it was made in 1954 most likely.

1948 would have been the first year that “Sweet Sixteen” was engraved on the receiver and your serial number puts it around 1954.

I think you’ll have to go to the blue book of gun values for this one. Here is a link to a newer sweet 16 that appears to be in much better shape.

I wouldn’t feel comfortable giving you a value on this shotgun. It’s a pretty cool firearm though. I’d keep this one if I was you!

Can you send a picture of the butt plate and the crown of the muzzle? Original uncracked butt plate, label (under the forend) indicating friction ring position and unmodified muzzle are all big impactors of value. If your in the Houston area shoot me a PM and I’ll be happy to take a look at it and maybe take it off of your hands
