tire size rant

so to make a long story a little shorter I bought aftermarket alloy rims from four wheel parts about ten years ago on a 96 Dodge CTD. I had BFG mud terrains on it and its time for a couple of new shoes. So I start calling around and guess what everyone discontinued making tires for R16.5 rims??!! So the only tire in that size thats going to be available is a BFG all terrain but they don't start production till the end of next month. So here is the question, do I limp along on what I got for a month and a half (they ain't that bad) and buy 33s or go back to stock tire size which are always available? The tires are virtually the same price and I will be moving from the mud tire to the a/t anyways. The crazy thing is if you search the internet for that rim size everybody is complaining so there is a market for them. And yes I know super swampers are available in that size but I don't need paddle wheels for my truck. Just a decent offroad tire. Called around all morning and there is one tire in that size in the US. Anyone got any leads on 33X12.50X16.50 BFG All terrains?? Used is ok as long as the tires got decent tread and they aren't dry rotted.

dunno bout your bolt pattern but I would try craigslist and pick up a set of factory rims in a more common size like 16, 17 or 18 which should be fairly cheap and get some fresh rubber for them.

there's no telling when the tires will be available after production.

As a side note, the BG Goodrich A/Ts no longer have the run-flat bead on them and, for some reason, they are harder to get balanced correctly. We've bought three sets in the last few months and only one set balanced right the first time.

There are almost no companies that make that tire size anymore. It sucks but it happens.

No hummers do not roll on those, at least not h2's..

Might try to find some factory or other aftermarket wheels.

Yep, pick up a set of 3rd Gen Dodge 17" rims, or a set of H2 rims.

search here for more 16.5's then call the local maw/pop tire store and see if they can get them from the Houston warehouse.
