Where to park for surf access

It’s been a while since I been to Galveston I’m enroute now from College Station. Is there a place to park and go in around stewart beach? Whate about access around Jamaica. Is it all privatized now?

Where to park for surf access

Towards Jamaica beach and the west end you gotta find public access spots. They will be marked by the blue signs. There’s about 150-200 yards of beach access at each spot and it gets crowded. Either go almost to San Luis pass or Freeport side of the pass. I’m headed to surfside. You going surf fishing?

Yessir. On 290 now. Think I’m gonna try around East Beach. Should have light winds and incoming tide all morning.

East Beach Parking - Close to South Jetty?

Back in the day you could drive right up to the base of the South Jetty on Galveston's East Beach. Seems like last I went (few years ago?) there were pilings that prevented you from driving to the base and you would need to park a few hundred yards away and walk with all your gear.
Is this still the same (no parking close to the base of the south jetty)?

You're right about back in the day. Back in the day you could drive down the south jetty a ways on a low tide day. I saw a car stuck in the sand, been there a long time, back in the day almost 1/4 ways down the jetty on the channel side. The tide came up on them, and they got swamped in .
I don't go there anymore due to the long walk from the posted parking lot, to the base of the jetty just ain't worth the walk to me.
