Marcos Island

Im going to Marcos Island, FL in May and was wondering how the fishing is and if there are any recommendations on charter guys for offshore. Thanks.

I’m actually from Marco Island. Live in port neches now. Like everywhere else fishing used to be better. I’ll be down there next week for a 5 day backcountry trip with my dad. I’ll give you a report then. Offshore is your regular gulf species. Snapper, grouper, cobia etc. if it was me I would recommend a backcountry trip targeting snook and tarpon. A lot less susceptible to the weather. It’s been a long time since I’ve been living there so can’t help with guides.

Thanks for the response. A backcountry trip sounds like it's the way to go there. Don't really feel the need to go drag up a few red snapper. I do that enough here in Texas. A tarpon or big snook would be awesome. Will be heading to the keys after Marco so tempted to wait and spend my time on the water down there

I agree with Merchantman. Offshore is a long boat ride without much action. I would charter inshore and target trout, redfish, snook.
