Another plumeria thread

Wifey has 2 in pots. I've no real experience with them except draggin them into and out of the garage every winter. She say a friend digs 'em up and cuts 'em @ the ground and stores the roots in the garage over winter. What do they need in ways of winter protection? Zone 9, 10 miles off the water? Thanks for any back saving info!

First I would not back as low as ground level. (Post a pic and I will make my suggestions on cutting) Other wise build a simple PVC frame and wrap with Black plastic. unless we get stupid below freezing temps a 100 watt bulb will heat the plant just fine.

Only camera I had that I could download from has recently taken a dump, so no pics. 2 plants, both are about 4' tall and branch @ about 2'. so they are also about 4'wide. They are in cattle molasses tubs so they are quite heavy and take up a considerable amount of space when in the garage. Hence, the idea of mothballing the rootball seemed ideal to me. Alternatively, thought of trimming back below the forks and letting them grow again next summer.

easier to build a PVC frame around them and attach a tarp over the frame heat with a light bulb on cold nights!!
