Leaving out of Mitchell's cut

Day off tomorrow and want to try the Matagorda reef for some state snapper.

Wanting to leave out off Freeport and running the ICW to Sargent and going out of Mitchell's cut.

I have not done this. I've been to Mitchells cut, but never gone out to the Gulf.

Any advice up to and including....."Nah, wouldn't do that if I were you."

You will be fine. Watch where the waves are breaking and don't go there. Stick to the Matagorda side of the cut

Yes
It shouldn't be a problem.
Just Google the cut in Maps and stay in the green water.
I'll try to post a pic.
But I'm new here.

Appreciate all the advice and was able to get out without any problems. Got a late start due to the fog and got out there about 1:00. Couldn't locate the fish. 1 other boat out there and he wasn't catching anything as well.

What was the water color? My experience is that if it’s even the slightest off color they have lock jaw. During the November-Dec 17’ it was on fire but last three trips I’ve stopped there, nothing.

Water wasn't a clear green color. Wasn't as nice as the earlier trips.
