Anyone know much about the old Subarus?

I own a 97 Subaru Legacy Outback and plan on replacing the trans with the 5 speed dual range trans off of an 88 Brat and was wondering if anyone knew the gear ratio on that trans.

A Good Website...

Here's a good one:

http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/

Seems like there were 2 gear ratios on the manuals, pretty straight forward swap. Good Luck !

Well I did some research on www.cardomain.com and found a guy who can get me the right trans and rear diff with certain mods to it to give me 2WD with the option of switching into 4HI/4LO. Also he has the adapter plate I need to marry the trans to my motor and also has a 2 inch suspension lift with modified heavy duty struts and has a new front and rear bumper. With the new trans and rear diff and doing a little intake mod and exaust mod I can easily tow 3500lbs. He told me he gets 27mpg. I will be able to tow a decent boat and still get better gas mileage than a truck. Heres the link to his site and also a link to his cardomain page.

And here is a link to a Baja with the same bumper.

Incase yall are interested in seeing what I am working with here is a link to my page.
