Not my wheel house
Something not at all in my limited realm of fishing knowledge. But was asked to build a little offshore rod for a retirement gift. Built on a Seeker blank 50-80lb composite with Fuji guides. Used a Batson Alps aluminum seat and gimbal, as well as their EPDM foam grips.
Did the under wraps a little longer than I probably needed to...but I wanted the color to show. We went with a spiral wrap on the guides as they have never used a rod with it. I explained the benefits of this style on larger fish so they wanted to try it. Hopefully they lay into some good Amberjacks soon with it.
Thanks Alex Almaraz and Chris Licht for the assistance. Folks I know this is not in my wheelhouse and I know there are mistakes or things I might not have done right for this type rod. So feel free to let me know....this is only the second offshore rod I have built so I can use some knowledge to store in memory. You know....just in case I build another one.
Here are the pics I got...somehow the pics of the bottom half got deleted. Oh well.
