man, this is some really good stuff, i had a pretty good idea about a lot, but thanks for the info about the leaders and hooks. especially about putting the hook on one of the legs of the spider weight to cast. i have been using baitcasters my whole life but feel i will have to practice some with my new surf rod.

Thank you! Im sorta new to surf fishing and a lot of info here ive never thought of especially about not putt your rod all the way down in your rod holder. Planning a trip to surfside/quintana/bryan beach at the end of June and this info will help me be better prepared. Thanks again!
